I’ll be the first to admit that I never ever wanted to purchase high-end makeup brushes. I used to purchase whichever and whatever brush I stumbled across and would use it for different purposes. Little did my high-school self know that was a huge mistake.
Once I became more familiar with makeup and started practicing different looks on my friends, it was apparent how important a brush really was. Sooner than later, I became infatuated with creating new looks and started working at Ulta during college. This is where it all began to make sense…
Sigma F80 Flat Top Kabuki: Let me first start off by saying that you can buy the most high-end and expensive foundation, but if you’re not using the right applicator to apply it, then it won’t lay correctly and do it’s intended job. I’ve been using this kabuki brush for a little over a year and haven’t thought once about changing up my routine. When using this brush, it is almost impossible to apply too much product to the face because it virtually will soak up your excess, leaving you with a smooth and evenly distributed complexion. I recommend this brush to anyone who wears a liquid foundation!
Real Techniques Setting Brush: This angled brush is perfect for setting under-eye concealer! It fits right in the corner of the tear-duct, letting you reach those unfavorable fine lines where creases like to set in. I’ve currently been loving this translucent powder to set my under-eye area. These two products are the ultimate dynamic duo, y’all. Most people forget this step, but if you properly set your concealer, it’s guaranteed to last all day.
Bare Minerals Angled Blush Brush: Let me just tell you that I received this brush as gratis while working at Ulta and have yet to buy a different blush brush! It evenly distributes color to the apples of the cheeks, leaving you with a natural sun-kissed glow. It’s so simple, but so great.
Sigma F35 Tapered Highlighter Brush: Especially during the summer, we’re all looking for that “glow from within”, am I right? I for one and constantly looking to achieve that look and this brush makes it feasible. I dabble my brush in my favorite highlighter and gently apply to the high cheek bone. It’s impossible to over-do your highlighter with this brush.
Sigma E38 Diffused Crease Brush: With any eye look, it’s essential to blend, blend, blend! You never want harsh lines around the eye area and this brush makes a smoky eye so simple and so effortless. The synthetic fibers used to create this brush were developed to hold and deliver powder products without any absorption into the bristles. So you basically don’t waste any product while creating your inspired look.

I definitely need to buy all new makeup brushes. My two children got into my makeup brushes and started dipping the eye shadow brush into the lip gloss. It’s a big mess but they are so old that I resolved to just buy new ones. I am very interested in the highlighter and the crease brush. Thanks for the great post.

Sigma is the best! Have you purchased their glove for cleaning your makeup brushes? It’s amazing. All you need is the glove and some anti-bacterial soap like Dial or Palmolive.
