Ladies – let’s be honest, walking into Sephora can be a little overwhelming. You sit there asking yourself, “Do I get the Kat Von D Shade + Light Palette or the Laura Mercier Eye Art Palette?” “What’s the difference between a $36 YSL Lipstick and a $20 Bite Beauty Lip Crayon?” “Who has the best primer?” “Will it irritate my skin?” “Is this foundation really worth $62?” With so many formulations, pigmentations and brand names out there – it can be extremely difficult to know what to spend your money on.
So when I heard about the launch of the Urban Decay Moondust Shadows, I couldn’t wait to try them out! I normally don’t gravitate towards to shimmer on they eyelid, but I was too intrigued not to give them a try. The Moondust Shadows definitely don’t fit into the normal “eyeshadow” category!
Product Description:
“Sparkly shadow goes ultra-sophisticated—with intense hues, microfine sparkle and lush, 3-D metallics. You’ve never seen a sparkly shadow this sophisticated. Moondust is dazzlingly sparkly but with a super refined, incredibly sophisticated feel (and not a single speck of chunky glitter). Microfine bits of iridescent sparkle collide with intense, dreamy hues and lush, 3-D metallics—for an effect that’s out of this world.
New technology gives Moondust an amazing effect not found in traditional pressed-powder shadows. It feels like a cream but goes on like a powder to create a smooth, brilliantly reflective look. The result? Sexy, twinkling sparkle with a ton of depth and movement. (And a LOT of questions about what you’re wearing!)
We recommend applying Moondust with your fingers. For extra intense color payout, try it wet.”
Definitely not your normal eye shadow description, eh?
After wearing these shadows for two weeks, I can genuinely say I love the pigmentation – the color payoff is seriously outstanding! It’s such a fun and unique product because depending on where the light hits it, it could be pink one second and green the next. (See above photos for examples)
Before applying and packing the product onto the lid, I highly recommend spritzing your definer brush with a setting spray. Applying the shadow while it is a little damp will take the metallic sheen to the next level and reduce any fallout onto the cheek area! The setting spray basically acts as an adhesive and keeps the product on the intended area.
While I personally didn’t experience any fallout when using these shadows, I can say that this product is definitely not meant to quickly swipe across your lid with a fluffy blending brush. If you take your time to pack the product onto the lid, you’ll be sure to see the difference and appreciate the depth of each color instead of a glittery hot mess.
And since we do know that removing a glitter-based anything can be tedious, I would recommend adding a few extra minutes to your nightly cleansing routine to ensure all product is removed. But hey, if removing excess glitter is the worst thing after using these crazy pigmented eye shadows, Urban Decay must be doing something right!
So next time you stop in Sephora, aimlessly walk around until you find the Urban Decay section and swatch a few shadows for yourself. If you love them, you can totally justify a $21 purchase! It’s much better than purchasing that $62 bottle of foundation, right? 😉
Have you tried out any of the shadows yet? If so, please leave your favorites in the comments below! My current favorite shades are Cosmic, Ether and Intergalactic. #obsessed

You liked one of my photos on instagram and I thought it was only fair to come and check out your beautiful blog. I’m very impressed. I’m so like you with shimmery I shadows, everything has to be matte except my foundation and of course highlighting. I’m slowly gravitating towards these eyeshadows now. They look so magical. If they are as pigmented as you say I might just have to pick one up, might take me a while to choose though!
