When you’re a bride-to-be, you certainly buy your fair share of white dresses. From engagement parties to bachelorette festivities, the more white pieces you have, the better!
Seriously… You. Need. So. Many. White. Dresses.
Throughout my time as an engaged gal, I’ve been especially in love with two of my white dresses. This one from our Couples Shower in Amarillo and this dress from my recent Bridal Shower in Fort Worth. There’s just something so feminine and exciting about wearing a white dress.
Searching for the perfect outfit for a special occasion can sometimes be a little overwhelming, BUT when you find your perfect dress, it just makes the event that much more special and memorable. Because when we look good, we feel good! #truth
Through trial and error, I’ve determined that there are 3 questions you should ask yourself before purchasing a dress for a special occasion. Now of course, this is totally applicable for all events, not just for the bride to be! (weddings, proms, first dates, graduations, birthday parties, etc…)
1. Does it accentuate my figure?
We’re girls… we know what works and we know what doesn’t work for our body type.
– Are you looking to accentuate the small of your waist? Find an a-line or peplum dress.
– Are you working with an hour-glass figure? Show off those curves in a form-fitting bodycon dress.
– Are you big busted and need support? Try to avoid strapless pieces and look for something with thicker straps and/or sleeves.
Because the truth is, no one knows your body better than you do – so if you know of a silhouette that works with your body, stick to what you know!
2. Am I comfortable in it?
Depending on your event, you could be doing a range of activities.
Dancing all night long?
Playing bachelorette games with your friends?
Enjoying a lengthy 5-course meal?
The most important thing is to be comfortable because we when we’re uncomfortable, we typically don’t feel our best. Try to ensure you’re wearing the correct size and always ask yourself, “am I comfortable in this?” in the dressing room. If the answer is no or if you’re hesitant about it, there is a more suitable dress for you out there for you.
3. Will it photograph well?
Once you have your dress on, take a look at yourself from all angles in the mirror. Since we can’t control what angle we’ll be photographed in, just ensure you feel completely confident in the piece that you purchase.
Finding the perfect dress is typically easier said than done, but hopefully asking yourself these 3 questions will help you narrow down your options and find the piece that accentuates your figure and makes you look like a total smoke show all night long!

I always have a hard time finding the perfect dress for the occasion. It’s like every dress in the closet has already been accounted for & cannot be worn for anything else! Of course that’s never the case, but it’s definitely a good thing to keep in mind! xx Adaleta Avdic
